Never mind that the casting is brilliant or that the special effects will be bigger and better than any of its groundbreaking predecessors. No, none of that is as important as the story we'll all see on the big screen for the very first time of how seven people of all different races, ethnicities, and even species, came together to show us that not only can everyone get along, but together we can save the world.
Star Trek did just that when it became a world wide phenomenon in the 60's. America was as socially divided as ever back then, but once a week people had the opportunity to leave that behind for a glimpse of what the future could be like if we set all our differences aside; a lesson we all can still learn from today. In theaters May 8th.
