You call yourself a bad boy? Meet the original: Steve McQueen. Also known as the “king of cool”, he ruled the 60’s and 70’s Hollywood box office and was at one time the highest paid actor in the world. Many of McQueen's films are classics, but none reflect his fashion forward persona more than 1968’s The Thomas Crown Affair. Most have seen the remake with Pierce Brosnan and Renee Russo. Although its also a favorite of mine, it misses the men's style mark perfected by McQueen in the original.
As Thomas Crown, a millionaire Boston playboy turned thief, McQueen sets the mold for future generations of big screen heartthrobs; smoking cigars, sun bathing with Faye Dunaway in trunks as small as hers, dune buggy racing, wing gliding ... he does it all and dresses the part. The production company reportedly spent millions on wardrobe which was virtually unheard of for a movie of this type. 
Today McQueen is iconized all over the place. You can find books, documentaries, and collections of his greatest films everywhere, all which make sure to mention his influence on men’s style. I promise that one afternoon alone with this film and you’ll be erecting a memorial of your own very soon.
