If you missed last week's pilot episode of the new Showtime television series ... you played yourself. This is not your average Emergency Room melodrama. Edie Falco plays the lead character who is a pill popping (and more often snorting) head RN that - as you can imagine -doesn't always make the best judgement calls. Still her experience and expertise are invaluable to everyone around her, including the patients she cares for. Tune in every Monday night at 10:30 right after Weeds to catch the new episode. And if you did happen to miss the pilot, no worries ... view it now online by clicking here.Monday, June 15, 2009

Regina King: Southland

Regina King, accomplished TV and film actress, has nabbed a role in NBC’s new cop drama, Southland. King will play detective Lydia Adams, who lives with and is the primary caregiver to her mother.
I haven’t been into cop dramas since New York Undercover but I’ll give the show a shot since I’m a Regina King fan. I mentioned recently, that I wanted to see more women of color on TV in action roles. I’m not sure how much action we’ll see from Miss King’s character, but I’m assuming that because it’s a police drama, we might be in for a treat.

Fashion Show

Whilst "Project Runway" is in legal limbo, Bravo is getting its other fashion design-centric reality competition show underway.
The cable channel has named acclaimed designer Isaac Mizrahi and former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland as co-hosts and judges, with fashion luminary Fern Mallis as a judge on "The Fashion Show."
On "Fashion Show," pro designers will compete in challenges that will be judged by professionals in the fashion world as well as by the studio audience. The rabble gets a say-so because the ultimate prize is having the winner's designs sold by a major retail outlet.

First Look: Family Guy Spinoff, The Cleveland Show

The show, a spinoff of MacFarlane's animated comedy Family Guy, follows the adventures of Cleveland Brown, deli owner and neighbor of FG's main character, Peter Griffin. Judging from the intro (embedded right), this show looks to be more of the standard MacFarlane fare: a plethora of pop culture references, crass jokes and loads of toon nudity. The Cleveland show set to air in the U.S. in autumn

TiVO Alert
The producer of Top Model & Project Runway, Ken Mok, has used his expertise to whip up yet another reason we should all turn off the news and indulge our pre-economic meltdown sensibilities for a change. Stylista (premiering tonight only on the CW) fits the usual reality competition mold no one has seemed to get tired of yet. This time its fashion stylists instead of models or designers and the show is hosted by Elle Magazine Fashion News Director, Anne Slowey. All reviews so far have touted that Slowey's personality is one part Miranda Priestley and an equal part Margo Channing. While that's a combination I never hope to come up against in real life, lets all pray she lives up to the buzz.

TiVO Alert: Bravo Brad!
Though he is one of the most annoying men I’ve ever seen on TV, he’s also one the most stylish these days. Brad Goreski of Bravo’s Rachel Zoe Project is one of the few highlights of the lackluster reality show. For more on The Rachel Zoe Project tune in to Bravo Tuesday night at 10:00pm or visit
