"We have become a race of peeping toms. What people ought to do is get outside their own house and look inside for a change." Thelma Ritter in Hitchcock's classic Rear Window
Before Shia LaBeouf & Sarah Romer were nosey neighbors/murder detectives in Disturbia, James Stewart & Grace Kelly were on the case in Rear Window. In this classic film Stewart, a reoccurring Hitchcock player, is a photo journalist stranded at home with only the view outside his New York apartment window to keep his busy mind occupied. It's not long before he's in on all of his neighbors dirty little secrets, including the odd disappearance of someones wife.
Scarlett Johansson & Javier Bardem recreate the scene in Vanity Fair, Feb. '08.
If you aren't particularly moved to watch the Super Bowl today, this is a great way to spend your Sunday at home. Check out the trailer right here for starters.
