Burberry Behind the Scenes
“This Autumn/Winter campaign was shot here in Westminster, a wonderfully historic part of London and the home of our new global headquarters Horseferry House. I wanted the images to represent both the rich history and the modernity of the Burberry brand whilst at the same time reflecting a quiet beauty, timelessness and strength that is particularly significant today. Having known and admired the lovely Emma Watson for quite some time, she was the obvious choice for this campaign who like the images she fronts, has a classic beauty a great character and a modern edge. Emma’s charm, intellect and brilliant sense of fun made the whole shoot feel like a picnic on the Thames. The five guys of the campaign, Tom, Charlie, Douglas, Nick and Tom come from the world of film, music and art and give the pictures a true British attitude. I believe that these iconic images shot by Mario Testino will have longevity well beyond the season that this ad campaign represents.”

Usher Raymond & Tameka file for divorce
"The soon-to-be exes have two kids together, Usher Raymond V, 18 months, and Naviyd, 6 months. And the insider says that it’s more than just talk — the divorce papers were filed in Atlanta this morning. The couple has faced problems in the past. In November 2008, it was reported that Usher was flirting with girls at a party in Miami, and even asked a model what she was doing afterward. And in February, although Usher flew to Tameka’s side after she suffered cardiac arrest from cosmetic surgery in Brazil, he "had no idea that she was there to have surgery.'"Wednesday, June 10, 2009

Affirmative Action On The São Paulo Runways
São Paulo Fashion Week released an official statement yesterday announcing that it has signed an agreement with the São Paulo Public Ministry to fight racial discrimination on the runways. According to the agreement, São Paulo Fashion Week has the legal duty to suggest that all designers and labels include at least 10% of black or indigenous models on the castings for the shows. While SPFW cannot enforce that designers comply with the quota, the event now has to contact designers 15 days prior to the shows and suggest the booking of black models.
The event will have to report to the Public Ministry 30 days after the shows, and can be fined in R$ 250K if the 10% quota is not met.
Castings for Fashion Rio started this week, and the new 10% quota is also being suggested to designers participating in the event. I am hoping the quota will bring about more racial diversity not only on the runways, but also in editorials and campaigns from this season forward.

The new concept store from Vuitton opens May 30th in the Seibu department store in Ikebukuro, Japan (for a limited time only) with a construction site theme full equipped with a forklift with monogrammed seating - of course. Limited time meaning they're probably constructing a larger store or testing the market for one while this capsule is up and running. Expect prices to be the same and only the shopping experience to be different.
